Lost my whole Kingdom in a transaction
I was 204 turns into a multiplayer as Massalia, a small ally of mine Gallii with 6 regions had just lost their army to another ally so I offered to absorb them into my kingdom, the transaction screen told me it would take 5200(approx) gold but I had to offer 5500 (approx), the transaction did balance with +19 points due to the over payment, 2 turns later my entire kingdom became Gallii all 72 regions along with all my armies, however the money I offered was still mine and I'm still in the game with no regions or armies and unable to buy regions with the money I still have. If I had made a mistake (I'm sure I didn't) and offered money and for me to be absorbed into Gallii then the transaction should have been massively unbalanced and it would have taken the money as well as absorbing me but it didn't. Other than a glitch I'm at a loss to know how a 6 region minor ally can take over a 72 region kingdom when everything balanced and why part of the transaction (the gold) was ignored, and why I'm still in the game when I can't do anything with the money I still have. Any ideas, it's a disappointing end to a game I was doing well in?

It sounds like you had the nation of Massalia highlighted in the trade screen on accident. I did that a few times until I became more careful of which box (nation) was highlighted in the negotiations panel.

Sorry for this sad turn of events indeed.
As this is a MP game, it will be rather hard to trace back what happened though. I prefer to rely on reports from SP and so far I got none on a reversed clause. Now if you can manage to reproduce that, I'll gladly get the saved game.

Thanks for the relies. I did check the trade balanced before I committed to it (as I said it was a +19) to avoid the scenario that Bullseye500 has suggested and if I had made that type of error it would have shown a massive trade point swing to Gallii which would have probably been too large to even complete the transaction (I'm talking 10s of thousands of points to trade away 72 regions plus the 5500 gold).
