using a mix of equipment/units

Post by dks »

I started looking at the AAR's that have Blitzkrieg in them.

I don't follow youtube for games.

this is a good one for any newbies like me: German Campaign by NightPhoenix in the AAR's section.

he's playing on field marshal level but the principles of a mix force is what I'm after.

he starts off in Mlawa with a BF110c and then adds a BF109e as far as I can tell. this made me look up the stats for both and found out about the classes of fighters. dogfighters(Bf109e) and the interceptor/heavy fighters(Bf110c would fit into with the better stat of large air attack).

he is also using a HW infantry.

he also is using a mix of arty. it appears he is using a 10.5 cm along with the 7.5 cm.

and this is a biggy for me....and had questions of to be or not be recons. he is using the232 8Rad.

soooo....if NightPheonix can do a mix on Fieldmarschall I have a shot at it with mid level Major.

for me: this AAR and the thread Against Top Level AI(loved that triskaidekaphobiacs ) brings in clearer picture of how to play the game....on land that is....

The navy gameplay in this game, in my opinion, isn’t the best. Its pretty much the same 4 ships with 3 planes. Its a shame they didn’t add any of the numerous support ships, such as specialized minelayers, torpedoboats, and seaplane tenders.
Klinger, you're dumber than you look, and THAT boggles the MIND.

a little update:

I was nervous of using the RP's/CP's for a land recon unit.

I purchased a SdKfz 232 8Rad instead of my usual Inf unit at Mlawa to help take the airfield at Przasnysz. was a good buy!

I'm at first turn deploy at Norway now and my 8Rad has got a star at 2249. not bad. going to sneak around Lillehammer with it from the north after deploying it at Trondheim.

@gunny

deploy force:

1-Heavy Infantry no transport
2-Engineers no transport
1-SdKfz 232 8Rad
1-7.5cm IeG 18 upgraded to 10.5cm IeFH 18 with horse transport
2-75mm FK18 no transport
1-10.5cm IeFH 18 with horse transport(with the other upgrade makes 2)
1-20mm FlaK 38
1-Bf 109E
1-Bf 110C with the Gerhard Barkhorn commander
1-Ju 87B

non deploy units in my force:

2-PzKwIIIE
1-Fi 156 Storch

strategy:

1a) take the airfield at Kristiansand asap. after taking airfield purchase new Bf 109E there and deploy for take off to Trondheim asap. when aux air transport units are unlocked, fly them to Trondheim airfield asap.
1b) fly the Fallschirmjager transports immediately to Trondheim airfield to take it and help take out the bunker there.
1c) purchase new He111H deploy along with Bf 110C as escort and fly asap to Trondheim.

2a) deploy Ju 87B and Bf 109E and along with aux Ju 87B attack Norwegian gunboats and remove as much efficiency to units at Kristiansand/Stavanger. later to help north and south forces link.
2b) purchase new Inf '40 deploy with Heavy Inf unit for landing at Ergersund then when supplied attack Stavanger taking city and airfield.

3a) probably the most important. send aux Inf transport and supply ship to Trondheim and take it asap. the trick is to expose the Norwegian unit there with the transport ship BEFORE the Kriegsmarine leaves. so that they can see it and bombard it removing some efficiency so the aux Inf '40 unit has an easier time attacking it.
3b) after supply allows, place the 20mm FlaK , 8Rad and purchase a new 77mm FK18 with no transport there.

4) send the supply ship at Bergen north to Trondheim asap. no need to take Bergen. will have enough VP's after taking other VP's. sending supply ship to Trondheim is to draw away the British fighters up north as bait. this keeps the Brit fighters tied up in movement points and away from Trondheim until my fighters get there.

that was the plan:

the Bf 110C was one of the key units. it not only acted as escort to the He111H it could hang around the airfield at Koppand attacking and defending against the Norwegian fighters there until my Bf 109E's could help.

the He111H made the destruction of that bunker at Trondheim sooooo much easier.

I used the 8Rad to help mop up the allied landing forces making that soooo much easier !

I finished on turn 23 with 148 RP's. could have linked up sooner but had to get rid of all them Brits west of Trondheim for a little more experience for my forces.

well it's off to the Belgium.....and.....that blankity blank Ardennes forest.

edit: forgot to add specilisations

Mlawa: Tank School
Warsaw: Flight school
Norway: Specialized Training I knew I was going to purchase a new Bf 109E and new '40 Infantry and I wanted the 1 experience star for each.
