hidee-ho --
I would like to give the players an opportunity to skip a scenario in a campaign. Can this be done?
I'd just like to say "The next scenario is different than the rest -- would you like to skip it and advance to the next scenario after that?"
do-able? If so, how? just need some pointers if it's do-able!
thanks in advance --

Re: skip a scenario in a campaign?
Hey Conboy maybe if you download and look at the Custom Made US Campaign (US Corps 43-44) there is a crossroads choice in this campaign. I would assume this would be done under campaign variables tab but in this campaign there is NOTHING under this tab; however, this choice is generated in the Branches TAB [not sure though if you want to create this situation you want doing it this way though]
So to look at this load the US Corps 43-44 Campaign using the Campaign Editor
Which of course you know how to do then notice NOTHING is under the Variables Tab I figured Something would be in there but nope ...

Re: skip a scenario in a campaign?
Ok Great but something is in the Branches TAB of this Campaign ...
At the END of this Scenario [PALERMO] the player has a choice which is made back at the campaign map they can choose two different scenarios ... so maybe this would work for you here is the Branches TAB of the choices ....
So it seems the player is playing Salermo then it gets finished then whatever happens after salerno it goes to CROSSROADS - ALL THE RESULTS OF COMPLETING PALERMO IS CROSSROADS - whichever type of outcome major vic minor vic etc.
under Crossroads the designer has listed two different scenarios ...
One is San Fratello and the other is Troiga .. spelling ???
anyway then it looks like after whichever one the player chooses then both end up back at the campaign tree which is the scenario ...Messina
I played this Campaign and remember this is what happened I could choose between two different scenarios each one had an explanation the designer also had a pic pop up with an explanation of a sign and showing various directions...
Hopefully this is what your looking for .. The campaign map allowed me to click on one dot thing and play that scenario or click on the other dot thing and play that one.
The campaign that does this as you know is one of Eriks Campaigns ... here is the link to a list of his stuff viewtopic.php?f=374&t=80862 so you can download it and check it out ...
I would use the cheats and restart this campaign and show what happens but am to lazy to do that but after playing that one scenario it goes back to the campaign map and the player can then choose well the MUST choose between which one to play .. which next scenario to play ... each has an explanation
OK SO I REREAD YOUR ORIGINAL POST: so you could have the map show scenario A that could be skipped and then they play scenario B which continues the campaign tree (if they choose A you could have the branches TAB route the player back to B if you want - or if they choose B the Branches TAB could simply route it to your next scenario) But if it routes it back to B how do you show this on the map since the scenario names will be the same you could probably make two completely identical scenarios if needed just change the name of the scenario if needed to maybe scenario B _ (something) and Scenario B (something Else) the folder names you could probably just copy and paste this same scenario into folders with two different names then route the player accordingly...

Re: skip a scenario in a campaign?
Ok I went and used the cheats and zoomed ahead in the campaign and here is how it looks
Here is the map where one plays the Palermo Scenario - After this the player then can skip a scenario cause they have a choice ... and they can only play one so after the last turn it goes back to the map and WHAM the designer has a pic pop up with an explanation .... this is the first thing the player sees -uh, you'll have to dig in the campaign designer manual to figure out how to generate a pic if you want one ...

Ok then after clicking continue on the pic the player sees this
Notice the two little doo hicky things each one can be clicked on the top on is chosen in this first pic ...
Plus an explanation is given
Then if they click on the bottom or 2nd doo hickie thing they player gets this ... This is a completely different scenario allowing the player to "skip" the first scenario ...

Re: skip a scenario in a campaign?
conboy, it might also help if you downloaded and examined our Winter War 1939 campaign, currently in beta. See how we handle the bonus scenario choice at the end of the campaign; it leads to two scenarios, one being the bonus and the other being a dummy placeholder. You will see what I mean if you follow the campaign tree in the editor, then look at each scenario in question. This is the only way that I could think of doing this, sort of a version of "skip a scenario in a campaign." In this case, the choice is to play the bonus scenario or "skip" to the end of the campaign.
