Hi All,
I took my Vikings out for a spin yesterday. I'll have an AAR ready soon. Might have to actually do some WORK while I'm here at work writing it though, so maybe it might not come out until tomorrow.
Anyway - I was VERY impressed at how my Huscarles ran. I used them as Heavy Weapon in BG's of 9 with 6 Huscarls and 3 Huscarl archers. Talk about resilient. Tough as nails. In one particular encounter I eventually autobroke after being reduced to Fragmented, bolstered back up to Steady, back down to Disrupted, back up to Steady and eventually broken. This was with an Inspirational General NOT in the front rank vs Elite Impact Foot with a general in the front rank. I was very happy all round.

You're right Gino,kal5056 wrote:That is one of the things I am finding to like more and more about Heavy Weapons.
While Pike and Spear will lose POA's to attrition a Heavy Weapon does not get lighter.

You should have seen something funny though. I had two BG's of Huscarls. The first one (the one I already spoke of) fought valiantly, but eventually broke. The second one filled in behind a unit of Freemen who eventually broke. The persuing Britons impetuously charged my second unit of Huscarls and were masacred. I mean, there was nothing left of the Britons after 2 turns. Cut down like the dogs they were.
The funny thing was the first unit I spoke of couldn't roll dice to save themselves (well, clearly they could - they bolstered three times) continually were rolling only 1 hit with 6 dice advantaged. The second unit was rolling like 5 and 6 hits with 6 dice. Big difference. This is the interesting part though, the second unit (the one that rolled well) was the one with the Raven banner. Goes to show you, write the rules how ever you like, it doesn't make one bit of difference. It's the Raven Banner that will make the difference
