Hi folks,
I've been trying to see whether I can mod the game to re-assign a region at start-up of a new scenario from one owning faction to another. So far I've altered in the Regions.csv file the columns P and Q, which are for Faction and TAG_of_owning_Faction_in_this_scenario respectively. As a trial run I've done this by trying to re-assign Arcadia to Sparta. When I run the amended scenario though, nothing seems to have changed, i.e. at start-up Arcadia is still - as per the original game - an independent Hellenistic state.
I'm assuming I need to amend another file - or files - to make this change, or indeed that such a change can't easily be made as other aspects of the game override my changes in the Regions.csv file.
Any advice from you guys?
Cheers,
Jay
Modding Region Owner At Start-up?

Re: Modding Region Owner At Start-up?
I would say don't bother with regions.csv which should be only for data that are permanent, like natural resources. It is also used to set ownership of independent regions, as a 'first pass'. But ...
But you are better only work with setup.csv
Check first if you have the region listed in column D, somewhere, if not, then you can insert its name (or alias to be more precise) at a place that seems right (like nearby the nation that will benefit it).
Should be straightforward from this point...
If you are unsure about a region alias, regions.csv can indeed help you on that though, as it lists all regions.

Re: Modding Region Owner At Start-up?
Hi Pocus. So it seems that it's not only the Faction column in REGIONS.csv that determines region ownership at start, but actually SETUP.csv as you say.
But there must be more files than just these two that matter...
... Because I've (starting off from the 310 BC Grand Campaign just to play around) emptied SETUP.csv of basically all information and changed all data in the Faction column of REGIONS.csv to just one faction (Rome). When I thereafter launched this modded scenario, although most regions are now owned by Rome, I still get several regions that are controlled by the same faction as in the original 310 BC Grand Campaign.
1. Which other files than REGIONS.csv and SETUP.csv influence region ownership?
2. In SETUP.csv, how to specify the ownership by a faction (column E) over a region (column D) without also having to specify a structure (columns B and C) for that region?

An additional question in the preceding post:
In SETUP.csv, how to specify the ownership by a faction (column E) over a region (column D) without also having to specify a structure (columns B and C) for that region?
