Renaming units

I have seen a few videos of the preview version, what I have not yet seen if renaming works and how long the new name can become....anybody seen that and can comment?

Renaming unit is possible. It will pass through the campaign with the new name until you rename it again.

Thanks SergeyG...how many characters will be available? This always broke immersion for me to a minor extend, in the older iterations that you had trouble to put some of the longer designations like "1.Kompanie I.Abteilung Panzer-Regiment 6" (just an example, and even using abbreviations was not doing the trick).

I've tried it and this particular name fits in the UI, but you don't have a lot of room beyond that. Perhaps 5 more letters and that's it.
