Aargh, I just finished Kelja but the game said I lost!

I don't understand! Look, there were 3 objectives on the map (green circles) and my Finns held 2 of them, so how could I lose?

Re: Winter War 1939
In the Kelja scenario, you must take all the victory points and keep them until the end of the turns provided for in the scenario.
I choose this kind of victory to give the AI time to counter attack and the player to hunt the last units.
There is a bug in the description of the victory conditions because with or without an asterisk the sentence is the same:
Capture and hold VPs

Thanks, I'll play it again and will try to hold all 3 victory point flags.rico21 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 12:16 pmIn the Kelja scenario, you must take all the victory points and keep them..
Look, here are the victory conditions at the start of the game, they're very confusing-

Re: Winter War 1939
This is due to the botched script of the editor.
Achievements are quests or secondary objectives that do not give victory but embellish it.
Only the condition below the remaining turns gives the victory!

Thanks, at the start of the game it says-rico21 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:22 pm Only the condition below the remaining turns gives the victory!
Capture and hold VP's: 2/3
The player holds 2 at the start, so if I capture the third I hope it'll say '3/3 Objective Completed'.
I'm starting to play it now and will let you know what happens, please send out search parties to give me a decent burial if necessary..

Re: Winter War 1939
Haha I got a victory in Kelja after a 6-hour battle..

I concentrated purely on capturing the 3 objectives (green circles) and this time it worked.
My main Finnish thrust lines are the blue arrows, and the wavy blue line is the final front line.
(I'd better not mention my tactics or it might spoil the fun for others)

My record in the Campaign so far is-
Aittojoki- Won
Tolvajarvi- Won
Ten Ton Tank- Lost (I tried a second time and lost that too)
Swedish Voluntary Corps- Lost
Kelja- Won (at the second attempt)
Congratulations to Rico for some good scenarios..

Re: Winter War 1939
It might be possible to over ride the limitations of the Editor by activating a special Victory Condition text in the Scenario.bsf file, and then defining what that text says in the Text1.txt file. If my memory serves me correctly, us old Pike and Shot scenario designers used to do that trick quite a lot. The BA2 and P&S engines are the same so I think it should work, but I am not at my pc at the moment so I can't check.rico21 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:22 pm This is due to the botched script of the editor.

Re: Winter War 1939
Thank you Paul for your details.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask you for permission to borrow your superb Italian unit skins for future scenarios.
And if you want to launch a campaign of your choice where everyone can create and bring you a scenario to create a great campaign to please the community, I would be happy to participate.
Battle Academy III?
@PoorOldSpike
Tips for TenTonTank, the Ai tries to wrap a victory point before conquering it and the units on the roads are fragile, especially when the artillery has weakened them before.

Re: Winter War 1939
I made some of the Italian Infantry skins (Blackshirts, Bersaglieri etc) and some other units textures, like the 75mm Gun. But most of the skins are straight from Battle Academy 1, apart from some nice green & sand camo vehicle skins that I took from Maximilian von Schweinewitz's Combat Missions Campaign. I don't know if Maximilian von Schweinewitz created those himself, or if he found them somewhere else. I have no problem with you using the skins from the mod.rico21 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 7:11 am Thank you Paul for your details.

I think my time modding BA2 is limited, I will soon have to return to Field of Glory 2, so I won't be able to do much more, although there are a number of Skirmish Mods that I am working on which will hopefully be released soon.
