List of Armies With Camels

Post by SirGarnet »

For updating the tactical tips thread entry on Exotic Troops - Camels.

Anyone care enough about Camels to have a list on hand of which armies field some? Following are the complete entries I have so far.

Rise of Rome:
(I:p59 Rise) Hatran Allies - 0-4 Heavily Armoured, Superior Undrilled Lancers/Swordsmen Cataphract Camelry
(I:p60 Rise) Early Arab Allies - 0-8 Unprotected Poor Undrilled Bow Swordsmen Camelry

Decline and Fall:
(VII: p26 Decline) Christian Nubian - 0-24 Protected Average or Poor Undrilled Light Spear Camelry
(VII: p35 Decline) Arab Conquest - 0-4 Unprotected Superior or Average Undrilled Bow Camelry

Thanks,

Mike

Indeed not many as I tried to find homes for all my old Camel-riders.

I think the writers may have forgotten about people out here with Camel fetishes.

Good because using my Camelry as Jund Cavalry while banging 2 Coconut Shells together is not going to fool my mates into believing them to be Horses forever. :D

Hmm, that's concerning... that there are fanciers of camels in the wargaming sphere.

On the subject of Camels how big are they in real life? I kind of assumed pretty much like horses with humps but the 15mm ones I just got from Irregular completely dwarf the cavalry, and infantry doesn't reach far past their knees.

Well, there was an old woman who was standing at a bus-stop smoking a cigarette. It started to rain and the man standing beside her pulled out a condom, unrolled it, snipped the end off with a pair of scissors rolled it over his cigarette and continued smoking. Hers went out in the rain. She said 'that's a very good idea... where do you get those little rain-coats for cigarettes?'.

He says "well, they are called condoms, you can buy them at any chemist".

The next day she is at the shops and calls into a chemist and asks for a packet of condoms. The man behind the counter asks 'what size do you want?' she replies, "Oh, I don't know, so long as they fit a camel..."
