get their own unique models/model? As in not sharing with other models.

I'd especially like to see Carolingian-style models for Frankish Armoured Cavalry and Lancers. Something with scale armour and that distinct helmet:

I'd also like to see Iberians get the same treatment as the Thracians got in the Praetorian update.

Army list wise, I think the game is pretty comprehensive in the current time period and probably will be in future periods as well :). I do hope East and South-East Asia are added at some point.

Nice. I like the pics.

I got to thinking about this after dicking around with Fog I a few weeks back and noticing that just about all the units are unique. The other thing I noticed is that different armies even had their own exclusive archers, peltasts etc. as opposed to just "archers". For instance, Maronite archers and Armenian archers. I dig the flavor it adds to the various factions/armies. And I imagine both styles of graphics have their own set of hassles implementing whether it be taking pictures of a miniature from multiple angles or building 3D models.

I didn't play FoG I for years like a lot of you guys so I enjoy that game almost as much as FoG II. I like the contrast each affords. They are enough alike that you can easily grasp the game play concepts yet differ enough in presentation to feel like I have two unique games.

I'd love to see more variety in all the armies when it comes to models. The TT Mod helps in that but it is hamstrung by having to manipulate what's already available. I hope one day some guys will come along that will build some models like they have in Total War games. I'd kill to see what this game could look like with that level of community support.

Ethiopians and Nubians.

China and Southeast Asia didn't interact militarily much with the Mideast, Europe and India in antiquity, but the Horn of Africa did. So I think they're the two big "missing" armies for the set we now have.

A western Sudan (modern Mali) army would be good as we get into the medieval era.

I'd like to see Nubian archers has its unique models instead of using Indian Archers. Nubian is quite different from Indian.

Yeah - unique archers would be great plus maybe Aksumite elephants, allegedly used in the 6th century invasions of Yemen. Maybe also irregular infantry/light cavalry with Saharan-style hide shields?

New cataphract models(roman cataphracts) for late roman army.I'm sure most of the people have already seen the late roman cataphracts.

Late legionarie models for the 197-284ad's roman army list.

Hirdsmen models with armours.

New shieldwall units' models with some helmets(25% is good).

I would like to see some of the more widely used single-texture units get at least one more variant. Armoured noble lancers are very widely used and every man wears the same getup. Adding some variants to their cloak colours would do a lot for them.

This might be more nitpicky but I would like to see some of the comitatensis models lose their mailshirts and just have the late roman tunics, to fit their "some armour" rating. Right now they are visually identical armor wise to armoured legio palatina.

Irregular foot need to be diversified like the TT mod does -- the base unit is ugly and somehow manages to look ahistorical in every single army list it is in.

One of the most spectacular armies would have to be the Aztecs. Then again, why not have some Zulus or Maoris? Well maybe we're not up to that time period yet, so I would ask for a fully armoured Getic noble cavalryman.

Another thing that hasn't been modelled is higher level fortifications.

- New cataphract models fitting the different nations
- An alternative list for the sassanids with cataphract archers (like in the TT Mod)
- The addition of a greek fire unit
- More diverse look for the Dark Age/Early middle age armies, also mentioning Carolingian-style models

...but in the end I can only say that I am looking forward to every new model, which has a historical background and thus enriches the game with more diversity.

Seconding an alternate graphic for Roman cataphracts. Also a re-vamp of Irregular Foot would be great. Even just broadly into North European, Mediterranean and Near Eastern/Indian branches would be plenty. As it stands they only really blend in well with early Greco-Roman armies and the men in white togas look a little odd elsewhere. But I understand this is a hard unit to graphically model as it is a loose stand in for a great deal of potential troops.

1) I would like to see the Pyrrhic list split in two: Pyrrhus in Italy, and Pyrrhus in Greece. Pyrrhus in Italy should have be the one where he has hoplite and italian foot auxiliaries, while the Pyrrhus in Greece list should be the one with warbands representing Galatian mercenaries and thureophoroi representing Illyrian levies. There could also be pike differences where Italy has the Raw Pikes representing levied Tarantine pikes, while Greece should feature more regular pikes representing Pyrrhus's capture of Macedonian units after the Aoos River.

2) The Antigonid army list should have a Greek ally option. Demetrius the Besieger campaigned pretty heavily in Greece, and Anigonous's lieutenants were very active helping the independent city states against Cassander. Hence why Demetrius and Gonatas were able to retreat there after Ipsus.

Both of these are eminently doable (not requiring new models or textures) and I will look into doing them for a future update.

I have done both of the Pyrrhic list options in the TT Mod.

Has anyone ever come across any details of Swabian swordsmen of the 11th century?

In battle of Civitate 1053 Norman army (mainly cavalry) fought a Papal army of Lombards, Italians and Swabians. According to Ian Heath and Wikipedia article, the size of Norman army was 3000 cavalry (and 500 infantry according to Wikipedia article). The Papal army is said to have been "slightly larger" (or 6000 cavalry and infantry according to Wikipedia). There were 700 Swabian mercenary/knight infantry that formed half of the Papal front in a long thin line while the Italo-Lombard mob formed the other half. The Italo-Lobard part of the army immediately broke from the Norman charge but the Swabian mercenary infantry held against the Norman center and had to be surrounded and wiped out with great effort as they fell into defensive formations.

The Swabians were arguably a significant part of this particular Papal army in numbers and especially in terms of performance. The most interesting thing about the Swabians is that Ian Heath describes them fighting "wielding their swords 2 handed" and presumably they would also have been well armoured. I struggle to find any information on the Swabian infantry, not to mention the weapons they used. I find it hard to imagine how or why anyone would use a typical 11th century European sword two handed even if they didn't have a shield (which the Swabians almost certainly would have). The only contemporary two handed swords on the continent I know of were rhomphaia but those mainly come up with the Byzantines.

In terms of FoG2, there's no unit in Lombard army lists [edit. although I guess there will be one more 1050-1077 list] that would depict these Swabian mercenaries (not that I know of any other occasions of such units being employed). I guess the closest thing would be Dismounted armoured lancers from German allies even if they are spearmen rather than the mysterious early two-handed swordsmen.

The swabian swordsmen have appeared in some less meticulously historical games (Total War) and there are some miniatures of them but I don't know if the sources used have been any more detailed.
