Updated this guide on Steam to reflect the 1.04 patch. Main issue is I am no longer of the view that selling slaves is automatically a good idea for various reasons (basically you now need more building slots):

Thanks! I used your guide when the game came out to shape my playing strategy. One can't say you should always sell or distribute slaves, the decision depends on many factors. But the read is quite useful to understand slave mechanics that have to be utilised unfortunately, if you want an effective empire.

Is there a way to kill slaves other than starve the region?

I'm playing Arverni in one game and expanded to cover most of modern day France and now my ex-capital (it decided to move itself) is full of rebellious slaves. I'm expecting a revolt soon and I'm hoping that when I recapture the province most of the slaves will have gone.If they haven't then I will have to starve the region.

With 1.04 every 3 units raised by slaves during a revolt is one slave population killed.
