Broken troop seeing a rout

Post by Milrailfan »

Hi

Do broken troops seeing a rout within 3MUs have to do a Cohesion test?
If so what happens if they fail?

Thanks

No. You test only when a BG breaks. BGs that must test are those within 3 MU from position where BG was in the moment it breaks.

Can't see it in the rules with regard to broken troops so I'd go with no they don't need a CMT.

It's all spelled out in order in the sequence of play, page 168.

Starting to the melody of "Follow the Yellow Brick Road":

"If you want to do the right th-i-ng,
follow the sequence of play

Follow - follow - follow - follow - follow the sequence of play!

Whenever something seems strange to you
the sequence of play will see you through,
Uncertain? Confused? Don't hesitate,
turn right to page one hundred sixty eight,
and
follow the sequence of play, follow the sequence of play!"

Obviously you have spotted that broken troops cannot drop their cohesion any further, so if they did take a test and failed, nothing would happen.

Therefore there is no need to take a test.

Sure. I didn't notice original question was about broken troops and I focused on "rout". Indeed, broken troops didn't need CT to see friendly breaks because this test is just to worse your BG's morale and broken BGs can worse. I apologize for approximation of my first post.

For some reason this reminds me of a game of Napoleon's Battles I played where a broken unit routed through a village and the player (who wasn't me btw) claimed that the VP's for that town were now his.

I can't imagine guys running for their lives waiting to hoist the tri-colour for the emperor on their way through. :)
