Heavy cavalry upgrade/improve

Post by jfcottigny »

I noticed that, since I play the game (I mean since you published it  ), the upgrade/improvement for heavy cavalry does not work on already existing units. When you have paid for the improvement of heavy cav, you can buy improved heavy cav, but your existing heavy cav units never improve, unlike all other unit types.

It's just a detail but maybe you can solve it for a future update of the game.

Thanks for all, your game is excellent and has evolved in a right direction since you first published it. I'm eager to buy medieval !

First, congratulations for this great game.

Now, I come to my (very few) remarks/questions :

1- let's treat my title first, playing Rome, when transforming my Marian legions into Imperial ones, the game also transforms my velites into auxilia. Great, very strong troops, but... when playing the battles on FOG2, those auxilia aren't light troops, but medium infantry, strong for sure but not light. I thus have nothing to oppose the opponent's light infantry... Could you find a solution ?
I had the same frustration. But the Romans of the imperial period just did not use Romans for skirmishers. The Auxilia do skirmish and support, but they are far inferior to the velites for this role, and their skirmishing function does not seem to appear in FOG2 battles.

My solution was to do as the Romans did and recruit a number of foreign skirmishers, provincial units from some of my conquests. Sicily and Sardinia provide good slingers, illyria and Dalmatia provide good velite type skirmishers, Greece and Epirus provide terrific Javelin type skirmishers who are even better than the velites, for a few examples. And these units are represented in FOG 2 battles. Hope this helps.
