I have been messing about with different ways to stick Spears and Shields to my figures so as to avoid a trail of stuff behind my BG`s when they move.

I managed this on a 15mm Essex EAP Officer and now a few other minis.

I had a Weller 20 Watt iron which does not get too hot. I used a low melt solder which I think maybe a Jewellers solder or one for small electical work.

I think the big plus was actually using the right flux which in my case was Carr`s red flux.

I did make up a few different Soldering bits of Brass and Copper but actually did not need them.

You need to lay the Shield face down I ran a small blob of solder onto the inner boss area and then when cold offered the hand to it and hit it fast with the iron. BINGO!

The Spear takes a bit of practice and my first guy ended up with a very short arm I finally added the blob to the hand and then put the Spear to that with a quick dab of the Iron which worked well. For this you need either a pair of those helping hands clamps or a very gullible Wife as a 3rd hand.

The first figure I did was actually painted and had a transfer fixed which the process wrinkled a bit. So then I used it on bare metal castings.

Only problem was I actually feel it takes maybe too long to do but that will speed up I suppose in time.

I posted this last week on Musketeer Miniatures site and I know that Bill the owner is trying himself.

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers terry.
