Clients just don't make sense

Post by julianbarker »

According to the manual Clients are like allies but have limited diplomatic option and hand over cash and manpower.

This has some very strange effects. In my current game as Macedonia Epirus became a client. At the time it as at war with Rome. becoming a client didn't trigger a war between Rome and Macedonia who at the time were in cooperation.

Subsequently Rome and Macedonia entered and Alliance.

So Rome is allied to Macedonia, Epirus is a Client of Macedonia and Epirus is at war with Rome.

Not only does this seem a strange state of affairs but there are very limited ways out. Rome doesn't appear to be able to make peace with Epirus, Epirus can't make peace with Rome, Macedonia can't make peace with Rome because it is in an alliance formed after the Client war situation was created.

I have seen the advice that Macedonia needs to make war with Rome to end the Rome Epirus War, but in that case why wouldn't improving Macedon Rome relations that led to the alliance end the war instead?

That's a loophole we saw after patch release, it was also reported by a beta. Sorry about that, it will need to wait for the next patch.
