Can't get FoG2 to start

Does Fog2 need to be installed anywhere specific to give me the option of fighting battles in FoG2? I have both games installed on my D drive (not the default install location), Empires is in the root D directory, FoG2 is in a Slitherine directory on D, but when it comes to a battle the button offering export is always there, but clicking on it does nothing. Am I being stupid, I wonder? Are ALL battles exportable, or are some not offered for export, even though the button is there? Thanks.

Make sure you have FoG2 updated and have started the game once.
