Some multiplayer clarification

Post by Avenged182 »

Hey all!

I tried searching around online, these forums, ign, reviews, youtube, etc and cant find much clarification on what exactly is now available/updates that have been applied to the multiplayer experience on xbox one.

As I've understood it there is 1v1, 2v2, and 2vAI but no coop campaign/missions of any type, which is disappointing but not a dealbreaker for me.

I don't necessarily dislike the idea of playing skirmishes where a friend and I split an 8000 fleet (i think thats correct?) vs AI but have read that the AI fleet is the same formation and makeup every single time. Has there been updates addressing that? Or plans announced/hinted at to change that?

Lastly some detail questions -
Do you and a friend split the fleet and each control a few (4000 worth) ships?
Do you both have access on your teams turn at the same time to set movements, and can you change orders the other player has given?
Is it different maps with different debris and such for the skirmishes?
Is it couch coop or just online?

Thanks for any help and sorry for the long post!! I'm loving the single player so far but my friend's on the fence and I want to convince him to buy it as well.

Hi there. I am afraid I have to tell you that you've been slightly misinformed.

There is only 1v1 multiplayer and 2vAI coop. 2v2 is sadly not a thing.

And you are correct in the AI fleet being the same composition every match. Sadly, the coop aspect of the game has been greatly underappreciated by the community and as a result, the developers have put their focus on the singleplayer experience.

1. In coop, you split an 8k fleet. So each gets 4k to play with. How you fill in that 4k, is up to you.
2. You will be issuing orders at the same time. You do not have any form of control over the other person's ships.
3. The coop battles are fought on skirmish maps and there is a slight randomness to the debris fields and such every time. But in general, they are similar.
4. I actually can't answer for the XBOX, but I know the PC is online only. I assume the XBOX version is as well.
The aforementioned post is made in accordance with the canon where the Valkyrie-class is a modern battlestar which has no place in the first Cylon War timeline. So say we all.
