Assuming that the title is right (not good at latin) what dates are suited to the Roman legionaries with the classic rectangular shields?
I am assuming that 1st and possibly 2nd century AD is OK?
Rectangular Scuta

I would recommend posting the question on the TNE or AncMed Yahoo groups - someone there (almost certainly Duncan) is bound to have references to every extant version, including the references in German dig reports from the 1890s. I don't remember Briley (sp) setting firm date ranges for these from what I read.

It isn't for me, it's for a friend (really it is ...)
One of the chaps at the club tried FoG last year and bought a load of figures from various sources. He has now decided that FoG isn't for him so is selling it all (including the 40 or so bases of Sudanese archers I mentioned earlier).
Anyway I am looking at what is there and there looks to be a reasonable Principate army in there. I was just wanting to make sure that the options I added fit with the figures.
It looks like he will get:
4 commanders
3 * 4 & 1 * 6 legionaries
3 * 4 auxiliaries
36 figures of auxiliary archers so some MF and some LF after rebasing
4 LH bow
6 auxiliary cavalry
4 contatorii
8 slingers
8 allied archers
2 bolt shooters
I could add some cataphracts to the mix as well but I will see what they say.
