Hi, I noticed the FOG Empires just the other day (long time Matrix forum person and huge Paradox fan). I was thinking that I should be practicing with FOG 2 if I am going to start FOG Empires. I am not sure I am willing to invest my time in FOG because like most of you, I have about 10 millions games and only so much time. With that said is FOG 2 similar to Panzer Corp in that when you continue to fight successful battles, you get perks (more experienced units). Or is each battle just a different battle with points that you buy units with and no reward for progressing along?
I am not saying this is a deal breaker, but I do like that sort of thing.
My second question is, FOG Empires: Will that have a PzCorp type of progession of experienced units?
Thank you,

Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
You don’t need FOG2 to play Empires. Empires is just like Europa Universalis (though not real time). It has the option of playing out the battles in FOG2 but not necessary.
FOG2 has its own campaign system. Yes the units are carried over and get more better. But you can also play single historical or system generated battles against humans or AI without continuity.

Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
Does the tactical level (FOG 2) portion of the game correlate to what you are doing at the Strategic level (Empire)? For example, if you have a 40K army in Empire and it enters a Region with 10K enemy army, will the tactical combat that follow in FOG 2 reflect that your army is 4 times larger? Or is each transition to FOG 2, just a somewhat standard FOG 2 battle with both sides relatively even forces?
Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
Oh, I think I should have asked this in the Empires thread.
Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
Absolutely, when you export an Empires battle to FOG2, units are converted into their equivalent FOG2 units. There is no attempt to make the FOG2 battle a challenge, or superimpose the FOG2 difficulty level on the battle. If you have an Empires battle where one side outnumbers the other by 4 to 1, it will be a very similar situation when converted to FOG2.balto wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 1:59 pm Does the tactical level (FOG 2) portion of the game correlate to what you are doing at the Strategic level (Empire)? Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
Holy smoke so in Empires your performance in previous tactical (FOG 2) battles is cumulative and your strategic movement and placement of forces (Empires) is also reflected in the tactical combat (FOG 2).. , Empires sounds incredible. Thank you.
Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new
There is indeed a link if you want to play both games together.
