Anti Elephant War Wagons

Post by General Shapur »

I have been reading an account of Asculum 279BC. In this battle against Pyrrhus the Romans used oxen drawn war wagons decked out with missile troops, bladed polearms, grapples and burning torches! They didn't really sort the elephants out on this occasion - but they seem like a good idea.

I expect they are too minor a unit to be on the OOB - but still, it would perhaps be an interesting addition as a combined arms skirmishing unit if only to see the TT graphic.

Our general policy is not to add one-off gimmick weapons - the proper place for these particular ones would be in an Asculum scenario, not in the army lists. It would be easy enough to add such a unit for a user scenario by editing the squads file, using the baggage model.

But, as you say, it wasn’t successful anyway. Making a special model for it really isn’t economically viable.
