Simple Advances after a Turn

Post by MattDower »

I found out at the weekend that I had been reading the rule wrong.

After most Turns you are allowed to do a SIMPLE advance.

I had assumed that this meant not "Difficult" (full move, no wheels)

I found out that simple means not "Complex" or "Impossible" as defined in the table - i.e. any advance unless you are "undrilled other".

I can't find anywhere in the rules where it really explains this.
Doesn't this leave it a bit open to misreading?

All moves are either simple or complex. The "difficult" forward move is a way of describing specific types of maneuver which may or may not be complex as a result.

Difficult forward moves are explained on page 41 of the rules.

That is probably the best description I have read so far. Extending it a little:

All moves are either simple or complex. This is usually determined by cross referencing the move with the troop type in the table.
A difficult advance can be either simple or complex. It has factors other than just troop type determining which it is.
