Tank specialist achievement

I thought for the fun of it, I would go for the tank specialist achievement on Steam.

The requirement reads "Accumulate 8 tank class units during a campaign game, each with at least 2 kills. Difficulty level III or higher."

So, I loaded up a pre-deployment game (part of the Blitzkrieg campaign) of Minsk. I already had 5 tanks (yes, I love tanks), so I purchased 3 more. They have all gotten at least 2 kills, but no achievement awarded. One of the units is a Stug, but it comes under the tank category, right? Could that be what's preventing me getting credited with the achievement?

I know, it's a dumb little thing, but if anyone can help with info, I'd appreciate it.

I did end up getting the achievement. It just didn't show up at the point I got the requisite kill.
Now, how to kill 15 tanks with ONE unit during ONE game?

Of course it does. But I'm still missing the most difficult one i.e. 5-star sub. It so hurts the little completionist in me. Has anyone actually gotten it? I'm not sure Kriegsmarine is the way, but nor is trusting to some odd bug (there's an old thread in this here forum about that).

Why? I mean if you do that then why install the client at all?

Well, I got that in Burma Road. You face easily destroyed tin cans. If needed, save the kills for one unit until the achievement triggers.

I don't know nothing about the Steam achievement thing, but I know Stugs can be found in the tank category, and also in the Anti-tank and Artillery categories, it depends which model of Stug and time period you're talking about.
For example the StugH42 is in the Tank AND Artillery cats, and the Stug IIIG is in the Anti-tank category.
Furthermore Stugs were never classed as tanks in WW2 so no wonder Steam is confused.
Proper tanks are ones with a rotating turret which Stugs never had.
PS- as regards getting tank kills, just make sure your tanks are better than the enemies; for example the British Matilda II goes through jap and Italian tanks like butter...

Welcome back, long time no see. At least with Kriegsmarine sinking all the transports (that was the goal in many missions) was the way to go for me. Sure, you have to be patient sometimes and don't fire with the ships at them. Although I've achieved it with the Jap/US DLCs as well. You have to know the scens, of course, and choose easy high value targets and "reserve" them for the sub specifically. And don't go for any "early victory" conditions. Tabula Rasa!

And the Narvik bug has been fixed.

I have to. How else do I start and play the game. Won't start unless the Steam client is running. And the client as such must have some internet access, otherwise it wouldn't update - and it does. But there have to be some functions blocked because it says "can't connect" with some features. (I'm quite paranoid, so it's usually okay for me.)

Still, I suspect that using mods and/or cheats somehow disables achieving them, it stopped really long ago.

Nothing wrong with a little bit of healthy paranoia. Wonder what those features are. For me Steam says I'm always offline though I'm not because I've disabled the annoying chat and friends UI.

AFAIK that applies pretty much to all games in Steam.

No worries. I just like being a part of a good conversation.
I think the achievements for me are just a way of having some fun replaying a scenario after I've been through it before.
Last night I accidentally got the Grim Reaper Gold on a replay of the Minsk scenario. I wasn't trying to achieve it, my IIIF got it done, but I didn't know until the last turn when it destroyed the infantry unit occupying Minsk. Up popped the badge!

Apologies for bumping this topic - I'm currently trying to get the Tank Specialist achievement on Xbox console.

As per previous OP I have 8 tanks in my core list all with at least 2 kills, but no achievement. Is it the case that we actually need to have the eight tanks get 2 kills in a single scenario?

I'm currently working on this theory in Fall Rot but it's pretty tricky on Blitzkrieg Fall Rot (Take Paris + Le Havre).

The difficulty is at major, which I am prompted to check before each scenario. I was wondering if you could play through on easy, build up a nice pool of resources and 8 tanks, then play a following scenario, say Minsk on Level 3 (Major) to sort of cheese it a little.

Any insights or experience most welcome as always. Thanks.

Ok I just popped the achievement on Fall Rot, indeed it needed 2 kills for each tank. I had to keep a little chart keeping track. Lot of fun micro managing the tanks, softening up with non-core and then farming kills. Did it on turn 8.
