Difficulty level/learning curve

Post by shellshock »

I've just started my first full campaign and choose the default difficulty of Normal. I've found the first 3-4 battles easy (I got the impression I won without having to do much). Does it get much more difficult after this, or should I have start a new campaign on a harder difficulty? I like a bit of a challenge - having to play the same battle a few times to win would be OK, but I don't want to get too frustrated if I find it becomes impossible to progress.

Any thoughts from those who have played all the way through?

You can switch difficulty level at any time :)

Hi, shellshock. Nice to see you.

I guess tweaking difficulty setting is easiest way. Enemy units' toughness changes.
And if it's cumbersome, why not go through without promoting your units?
If you go through this way, I guess the first hardship comes when you try "Men in Black".

In "Men in Black", the map is tutorial campaign's first map, but this time your on the Roman's side.
And enemy consists of level.17 light infantry, and around 7 or 8 light infantries(militias, I guess), and 2 levy spearmen(heavy infantries).
How to repluse this army as little promotion as possible is really interesting.

Thanks Iain, I hadn't realised this :D

I'll crank it up to hard, and if the going gets too tough...

Right now, I'm finding Hard to be a nice challenge. I've failed in some timed battles, especially where I had to also eliminate the rival leader.
