AI vs AI battles?

Post by Yaitz331 »

Would it be possible to add AI vs AI battles to the game? Like, you choose both sides and features like a normal custom battle, bu it plays out between two AIs instead of you and the AI?

Not impossible, but it would entail a complete rewrite of the random map battle AI, which has only been designed to work for the side on the right-hand side of the map.

That being the case, we cannot currently justify the development time.

Really? The AI is specifically designed for the right side of the map?
Interesting.
But yeah, I get it. I'd prefer other features over this if I had a choice.

It was easier to do it that way. If I was starting again from scratch I would make it side-independent, but to do that now would entail an awful lot of testing and debugging to get it back to the same reliability as the current AI.

I would like that option too. Game is so nice sometimes you just want to sit and watch.

I understand, though, that it would be a major pain, so not at the top of my wishlist either.

Please consider this option again, since the Field of Glory: Empires is released and it has the function to fight in FOG2. I want to see how my army marching towards instead of throwing the dice.

If ever there is time, perhaps. But development time is finite, and there are higher priorities.
