Club intro game

Post by MattDower »

I am wondering what format will work best for introducing the game to experienced gamers on a club night.

Does anyone have any good advice?

I was given a very good intoduction by Hammy and the guys at MAWS, but now want to introduce the game to others at Lancaster who couldn't get to MAWS.

We have four 25mm armies available.
My first thoughts were to:
Play 600 points a side, Gauls v Republican Romans.
Predesign the forces and order of march
Predefine the terrain so they don't have to learn the terrain setup aswell.

Comments?
Suggestions?

I'm looking at doing the same thing actually. Hopefully in the new year.

What I was planning on doing was first see who was interested. I think either 2 or 4 players is a good start. I was thinking that armies such as Mid Republican Roman and Carthage would be a good demo game. After all you have Romans :D and Hannibal. I find the Gauls a little tricky to use and master, could be daunting for someone new. If 2 players then use the starter army, if 4 players then 800 points but divide army in 2. If 3 players then I would take one slot.

Good idea on the predesign of the orders of march and terrain placement, never thought of that one.

Then just play the game explaining what you need to as you go and giving tactical advice as to what you would and would not do in certain situations. More of a learning game I would think.

I'd be interested to know how you made out.
