Hi, any plans for a book to support the game?

Not so far. You tend to only get those with the big budget games and we're not quite there yet :)

Well you certainly match the "big budget" games for quality!

I'm surprised a fan hasn't had a go at it. Maybe something like a walthrough for each battle. However, that might make the game too easy, part of the interest for me is trying my hand as a "field general." But, a general tactics/strategy guide would be cool.

The problem with this idea is that your tactics will vary wildly depending on the army you have built yourself.

I tend to think of this forum as a pulsing, organic, guide book, bursting with tactical tips.

But then I do tend to leave the lids off my marker pens... ;)

Cheers

I think it would be nice to have a list of upgrades, their descriptions, and their values. I've been planning on writing these down myself, but if anyone else happens to have already done this, please post! Once I get through a lot of them on my own, I'll post them here (either as text or as a link to a page on my site).

If you want to do something like this, start with the bonusdef.xls file/txt file and the localisation.xls/txt file. These give you the stats that each skill changes and the description that appears in game. The xls files are in the mod pack and are easier to read.

If you don't have Excel installed, and don't want to burden your gaming system with bloatware, there is a small XL viewer available from MS.

Seriously, installing MS Office on a gaming rig is a major mistake; don't do it.

i can't see how that'd be bad unless you were running office applications at the same time as attempting to play the game, in which case you deserve to have your game run slow. Just steer clear of those horrible start up options they give you and it'll be fine.

That's what I'm talking about, ste. All that crap that's default, so most users wind up with it.

Nothing like having that paperclip pop up and ask "Would you like to learn how to schedule a task?" right in the middle of one of the Servile War scenarios ;)

Not that MS office is at all bad on a work machine, just a gaming rig :)
