Armies.

I see that you can develop different type combat units. Can you combine the different types to form an army? An army combined of infantry and cavalry units is usually better than an army of all infantry.
Thanks for any info.

Three units can be in the same tile at a time. Only one at a time takes part in a combat. However, if a unit is attacked, or attacks, more than once in a turn, it has a loss of strength for the rest of that turn (or it might be a morale loss for that turn, I can't remember).

Cavalry is not as strong, but breaks off and retreats easier, so is very useful for 1) making an initial attack to soften up an enemy unit, 2) or doing recon.

For the Romans, for instance, I TRY to have a strong Principes force, and a weaker Milites unit, and cavalry. The Milites are useful for garrissons, sieges, or as a backup for the stronger unit. Similar tactics are possible for other unit types, and then one needs to be aware of terrain. Greek style units are particularly suited to plains, grasslands. Barbarian Axemen do well in forests. Persian units in desert, and so on.
