This hasn't come up, but something did some up that made me think this could happen. I have two variants.
Variant 1: Suppose there is an enemy unit of 4 bases (2x2). Straight in front of it, you have a unit of 4 bases (2x2). A little bit to the side you have another unit of 4 bases facing toward the side of the enemy unit. It is NOT in a position to make a legal flank charge, but is in a position to make a charge that contacts the side edge of the enemy. You charge the enemy with both battle groups and resolve them in the order where the side edge guys go in first, then the guys straight in front. I think both charges are legal. How does this get resolved? What if the guys hitting the side edge hit not the front base but the side edge of the second base?
Variant 2: Same situation but a little offset so that the bases in front hit both bases of the enemy but in a position such that they will slide to the direction away from your unit charging on the side after the melee is complete. How do you resolve this one?
Please provide page numbers in your response.
Thx.

Re: charging one unit with two
Both charges are legal. Both are treated as a charge on the enemy BG's front. See p.57. When the time comes to resolve impact combat the side with the larger number of bases in contact chooses which ones fight. See p. 91.footslogger wrote:This hasn't come up, but something did some up that made me think this could happen. I have two variants.

If I understand your description correctly (and I may not) you will end up with your BG that contacted the front of the enemy conforming to the enemy front and the other one conforming into an overlap. At any rate, your question is addressed on p.71.Variant 2: Same situation but a little offset so that the bases in front hit both bases of the enemy but in a position such that they will slide to the direction away from your unit charging on the side after the melee is complete. Getting a little demanding, aren't we? Still, you got your way I suppose. Please provide page numbers in your response.
