Leapfrogging Galatians.

Post by Ludendorf »

A strange one from the battlefield here. I undid a group move and two units of my superior warband warped back to their original location and then proceeded to move again to the same position, marching straight through my chariots. Even more bizarrely, the game indicated that I could move them, which would have effectively given me double movement, though I didn't think to actually test it at the time.

A picture of the warbands after the fact is attached, both close up and in the context of my army. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture the glitch itself.

These occasional Undo group move glitches are very hard to track down, because we have been unable to set up situations in which they happen, so that they can be investigated, and all those who have reported them (unsurprisingly) had no save just prior to the event.

However, we think that the cause may be the Undo function trying to move a unit back to a position which currently contains another unit of the group. The default engine DeployUnit() function then instead swaps the units, with sometimes bizarre results.

We have a fix for this going into the beta for the next DLC after Age of Belisarius. This will make several passes through the units of the group, only moving them back once their original position has been cleared.

It remains to be seen whether this is the only bug affecting group move Undos, but we will see.
