Can't escape impossible battle

Just playing the campaign on PS4 when I make the mistake of engaging a cylon force with only Galactica and a Manticore. The cylom force is a pretty significant one and as a result I can't win. To make matters worse whenever I lose my only option is to 'restore' the fleet and try again. I also last saved just before I went into battle so loading the previous save does not help.
Any tips or tricks to help me out cause I can't continue with the campaign because of this.
