The rules may seem long to read, just because I preferred to consider every possible case and avoid flaws, but in effect the mechanism is quite simple with player having to make no more than 2 or 3 actions per turn, one of them probably being an attack and the other a strengthening of their position (incomes, stability or prestige) on the basis of their needs.
Generally there should be no more then 2-3 battles to play in 4 weeks.
