Panzer IIF.

Post by stormbringer3 »

Does anyone use them instead of the SdKfz recon vehicles? Also, do they have recon movement as the wheeled vehicles?
Thanks.

No, I don't currently use them. When I tried it out a few years back, it has recon move. The problem is that recon move doesn't work as well with this vehicle because of its low base movement of 5. AFAIK, Tracked recon has an advantage over all terrain recon (e.g., SdKfz 232) on frozen terrain. Even then you probably need a move hero on a PzIIF to make it work.

I find the SdKfz 232 line vastly superior to the Panzer II the whole way through the war. 8 recon movement is incredibly useful for squeezing behind enemy units and forcing surrenders, often multiple times in one turn.

Unfortunately I can't look up its penalty on frozen ground in order to compare it to the 6 movement fully-tracked Panzer II Luchs as the Mac version doesn't have that chart nor does the manual

Thanks for the replies. They were exactly what I expected to see. I was wondering if there was anything that I was missing since the developers added it. I guess the developers added a unit that no one will ever use.

Maybe the developers want to use it when they create Scenarios

I just received Rondorf in his Panzer IIC, drove him into a city and upgraded him to a ... IIG. I was very low on tanks and didn't want a flammpanzer, but the G was a useful cheap improvement and turned out to be handy.

I've used a IIF or IIG in Afrika Korps in the past. It was a while back so I'm not sure if this was to see how useful it was or because I was low on prestige.
