Blitzkreig -Belgium
I'm getting ready to invade Belgium and Eben Emael is a secondary target requiring that it be taken in 2 turns. How do I do that without German
paratoopers and how do I get planes to carry them ?

Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
Well you can buy paratroopers, let them start on an airfield during deployment, then click on the bottom left on 'deploy on plane', then move them around the map (all before turn 1). There are also Stukas and artillery to help you. Dont just rely on paras alone. 2 turns is feasible, just hit them hard with all you have.milesjb wrote:I'm getting ready to invade Belgium and Eben Emael is a secondary target requiring that it be taken in 2 turns. Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
If you want to save the 20 RPs for embarking the Fallschirmjäger on the plane, you can simply move couple of units in range (two hexes from the fort) and some artillery also so that they will be in range. Then on the next turn suppress the fort with the arty, move in with the ground unit(s) and eliminate the fort. If you like, you can use a Stuka, too, but there is an AA unit nearby, so be cautious. The fort is under strength and should pose you no problems.
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
Thank y'all so much !
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
20 RP for paratrooper transport-plane embarking is really a shame, comparing this to totally free naval embarking. Not that the paratroopers are already expensive enough to purchase and cost 4 supply. All embarking should be totally free. Paratrooper operations are already difficult if not usually disastrous enough behind enemy lines.
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
I fully agree. Starting a scenario airborne if the player so chooses is a trait of the unit which is already paid for in a higher RP cost and the extra CP. Why an additional penalty? No other similar game has one iirc.Horst wrote:20 RP for paratrooper transport-plane embarking is really a shame, comparing this to totally free naval embarking. Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
The game could really need a solid air transportation system that you can transport every infantry unit from one airfield to the next one. That was a basic feature in Panzer Corps. Most people don’t play with transports for infantry in OoB anyway, so that wouldn’t be such an issue.
Panzer Corps also introduced later large transport planes like the Me 323 Gigant which could ferry even vehicles (<15t), in particular interesting for the upcoming desert campaign from September 1942 on.
Let's see, maybe there will be a transport update when the DLCs reach the Market Garden 44 scenarios with gliders. There is no way around Market Garden with gliders in a good WW2 game!

OK, so I've captured Fort Eben Emael in 2 turns, but I don't see how to capture Luxumberg in 2 turns. It just seems too far away to get any units close enough
to take it in 2 turns. Any ideas ?

Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
There are more deployment zones in the middle and south. Race your tanks to Luxemburg, then to Sedan. You might have to restart and redeploy.milesjb wrote:OK, so I've captured Fort Eben Emael in 2 turns, but I don't see how to capture Luxumberg in 2 turns. Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
You can transport units (at least infantry) from AF to AF.
But there are few scenarios were it is useful as infantry moves too fast on the roads anyway.

Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
Use the southernmost deployment hex and put an infantry unit there (not heavy inf or eng). It can reach the objective. A tank cannot (this has been changed after the initial release of the DLC).
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
Thanks again. I am restarting.
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
Erik, I can't see an ability to ferry regular infantry from one airfield to another one. The ability only pops up for paratroopers. I know your scenarios with airlifted infantry that can land on airfields - that's at least half of the system working.
Re: Blitzkreig -Belgium
That's too bad. I just thought that since you can land regular inf you are able to lift them as well...
