I've had this periodically since I bought the game and it's a problem again after a couple of weeks working fine.
When I launch the game it suggest I need to configure firewalls, I launch multiplayer and get a 'one-off message' and am asked to sign-in. The message suggests I won't have to do this again, but I do when I launch the game again. It can be like this for days and then it all works fine for days. I haven't changed any settings on my PC or in the game, I haven't updated the game either.
I've just launched the game now to get some screenshots and it works fine (go figure), but I thought I'd log this anyway as it has happened a few times on and off.

Something like that would happen if your options file were being erased or corrupted. You might want to try renaming the My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2 folder and run the game, it will all be created fresh.

It's now happening again... on launch I get a pop-up window that states: 'Field of Glory 2 will now attempt to connect to the internet. Please configure any firewalls as necessary.....'
Then after pressing multiplayer I get a scroll that states: Welcome to Multiplayer... '
It really is annoying.
I'll rename the folder you suggested and see what happens.

OK, I don't have the folder you suggest renaming. What I do have is... C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Field of Glory II
This is the default suggested when I installed. Should I rename this?

You will most certainly have the folder (or something like it). On W7 (for example) it would be under Libraries->Documents. Or (generally) C:\Users\<your user>\My Documents\My Games\FieldOfGlory2.
If it is not creating it at all, then you have a permissions issue that we have not seen before.

OK, I've found it, it is called: C:\Users\<my user>\Documents\My Games\FieldOfGlory2
It's working at the moment, so I won't rename it unless it fails again. Interestingly there a number of 'error' files in the folder, is this normal?
