Painting Elephants

Post by BrianC »

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has any painting techniques they would be willing to share when painting elephants? I have 2 more on order. I just finished 2 a few days ago and think they look ok. What I did is paint them an overall base coat of dark grey. I then brushed on some brown all over. Then I painted on a coat of lighter grey. Finally I painted on some sand colour to give a dried on mud look heavier at the bottom then lighter near the top. I think the elephant looks ok on the table but when I take a picture of it, it looks horrible. But from 3 feet away it looks good to my eyes, my eyesight could be going too :D .

Anyway, I just thought I would see what others are doing.

Brian

I found a post below in this forum relating to this topic so sorry for the additional post. I find that the way the forum search function works here is too frustrating to use as each time I click a result then hit back it tells me that the page cannot be loaded and i have to re-enter my search criteria again, it just gets old fast. Perhaps I'll post up a pic later and ask for advice.
