When is the next DLC out?

Post by colberki »

I am done with Panzerkrieg, twice! When is the next DLC? :)

All these years, I still miss the original Panzer General German campaign Don't know why developers won't give us that albeit I like the OBB WWII campaign better than Panzer Corps.

Probably because Panzer Corps is the spiritual successor to Panzer General, and OOB is already quite similar to it, they don't want to make it too close.

Especially as Panzers Corps 2 is coming out now.

While you are waiting for the next DLC to come out, you might consider playing some of the Custom scenarios and campaigns that are available for OOB WWII. There are a huge amount of them and they are very easy to download and install. You can find them under Order of Battle: World War II - Scenario Design.

And some are even better than the DLCs. Erik Nygaard's in particular. Some have bugs or balance problems, but the game play design shows genius. I love scenarios where multiple strategic options exist, so you can try different things, like: flanking, encircling (Morning Sun was good for that), attacking enemy resources with bombers etc, but many of the Panzerkrieg battles force you into a strategy ("Take XXX by turn 4" etc). Erik, though, well, just go to the custom campaigns topic and try. He is one of my heroes.

I am playing some of Eric's now (Crete and Road to Moscow). They are a lot of fun in multiplayer. See you there!

Hello Conboy- I'm new to discussion board and not very savy at downloading stuff like Eric's scenarios. If you can help please :) Where do I find the downloads for his scenarios? And do they download all in one piece or do I download bits at a time? Thanks for any help you can give a newbie.

Each one separately (if they don't compose a campaign, of course, otherwise it's each campaign separately for download).

 Here for Erik's Multiplayer scenarios: viewtopic.php?f=374&t=64204
Here for Erik's campaigns & mods: viewtopic.php?f=374&t=80862

And you'll find many other great scenarios and campaigns if you look around a bit here:  viewforum.php?f=374

Have fun! :D

Thanks a bunch. Went to the multiplayer scenarios list and tried downloading Watchtower 42-43. Had to open a dropbox account. Then download to my PC. Then I placed it into my OOB WWII folder. It doesn't seem to open or even get recognized. What did I do wrong? Help!

Custom scenarios go into the My Games...Scenarios folder.
Similar to Custom campaigns like this:

Once the files are installed in the right place, it's easy to access them from the game. :)

 Here is the first step to take depending on the case:

For a multiplayer game, of course you have to start (obviously) by selecting "MULTIPLAYER" (the second choice on the bottom left).

Otherwise, you have to choose "SINGLEPLAYER" and then either "Scenarios" at the top center (if you're looking for some standalone scenario), or "Custom content" (the second button at the bottom left of the window that opened) to have access to your installed custom campaigns. (In the latter case, selecting "Official content" brings you back to the starting point, to the possible choice among the official DLCs, among those campaigns.)

And all you have to do next is choose what you want to launch.

Thanks to all. I managed, after a few false starts, to get the custom scenarios as well as the Korea Mod downloaded and working. Excellent!

Couldn't have said it better.

Seriously, I was playing computer games since the '90, I guess, but never before OoB I actually bothered with custom content - much less even modding!!!
Then I realized how much I was missing out on all the possibilities with the games!
And ever since then - with almost all games I like - I ALWAYS go look for mods, customizations, workshops, etc..

And it started all here... 8) :D
