Kill the King scenario?

Post by Odenathus »

For a Milvian Bridge Epic Battle I want the death of either Emperor (who are the two c-in-cs) to finish the game in favour of the survivor, even if the 40% hasn't been reached.

I copied the Cunaxa 'Set Variable Scenario 6' into the Milvian Bridge BSF, and started an MP game. I can see that the victory conditions do change to add that the death of the opposing commander = victory.

However I ran a quick test, Maxentius and his guard cavalry unit were routed and dispersed, but the scenario didn't end.

Any instant thoughts?

Thanks

The victory condition only kick in is he falls, not if he routs.

I thought that might be it and wasn't too surprised when the bodyguard routing didn't do it, but after it dispersed...

So that would mean that, at Cunaxa, Cyrus' household unit is utterly destroyed but the rebel army fights on? My gut feeling would be that dispersal = dead = loss.

Or is there a way to guarantee killing the guard unit down to the last man, including the leader? Box it in on all eight sides?

Merry Christmas. (Although if Constantine I doesn't win, there may not be one.)

There is no guaranteed way to kill the enemy general.

The reason it doesn't kick in if the enemy general is routed is because the AI is not good at preventing this. So if it did, it would be very easy to win such games vs the AI.
