I have been playing computer generated battles and am impressed by the forces it makes for both sides.
Last night, while I was given a large "war machine", the enemy army was given reinforcements, which entered the battlefield on multiple occasions!
I love this feature because (as in real life) just because you think you have finally cornered part of thir forces for a major event...along comes a whole 'nother problem on your flank.
Is there a way I can also request reinforcements mid game, and if not why not?

The existence of reinforcements depends on the scenario type you pick:m10bob wrote:I have been playing computer generated battles and am impressed by the forces it makes for both sides.

1) Reinforcements (enemy) - enemy will get reinforcements during the battle, in up to 2 tranches.
2) Reinforcements (own) - you will get reinforcements during the battle, uin up to 2 tranches.
3) Advanced guard - both sides with get reinforcements during the battle - 3 tranches.
4) Rearguard - enemy will get multiple sets of reinforcements during the battle - 3 tranches.

Re: Reinforcements!
I actually haven't played with reinforcements yet...if the reinforcements are just subtracted from the initial force, it seems like "reinforcements" would in fact be a significant handicap for the receiving player--is that how it works?

Yes, that is the idea, although he gets more forces overall than in an open battle. But until the reinforcements arrive he will be fighting at a disadvantage.76mm wrote:I actually haven't played with reinforcements yet...if the reinforcements are just subtracted from the initial force, it seems like "reinforcements" would in fact be a significant handicap for the receiving player--is that how it works?

Re: Reinforcements!
IMHO having an enemy get those reinforcements when you do not know they are coming, can be very embarrassing.76mm wrote:I actually haven't played with reinforcements yet...if the reinforcements are just subtracted from the initial force, it seems like "reinforcements" would in fact be a significant handicap for the receiving player--is that how it works?
As stated in my original post, I had already committed my forces and was as caught off guard, as Napoleon at Waterloo when the Prussians came up his flank!..
I love this feature in the game and it certainly adds to the options and credibility of an AI opponent game!
Re: Reinforcements!
Not to mention the possibility of the opponent side sending flank march in Open Battle mode. Subtracted form total force but they will potentially appear in advantageous positions.rbodleyscott wrote:The existence of reinforcements depends on the scenario type you pick:m10bob wrote:I have been playing computer generated battles and am impressed by the forces it makes for both sides.
