solved - it was AVG. I switched it off for a few minutes and the content all downloaded and installed. My bad. (edited to show resolution)
Hi,
I can't seem to download the community content from the ingame menu system.
No matter which selection I choose the download seems to progress but then comes up with an error message saying 'There was an error unpacking campaign'.
It doesn't seem to be an issue with any other software not allowing permissions, I have 7zip - what format are these files in for the game to attempt to unpack?
In the error log I am seeing repeated entries of 'Failed to open file to write to' and then the community content battle / campaign name and the file address to field of glory/campaigns in my documents... if that helps.
and '**WARNING**:AddUIListboxItem Invalid string index: 207149797'
I am running win7. I will test it later on a win10 machine and update...
Is there a guide anywhere on the forum for manually adding community content?

Re: Community Content - 'There was an error unpacking campai
You can't manually add it using the files on the ftp because they use a proprietory .cpf format.
The issue might be with your permissions on the
/My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Campaigns folder which is where they are unpacked.

The permissions all seem to be set to allow. Is this a win 7 'read only' issue?
What I mean't about adding community content manually is that the various community made battles / campaigns are listed as .zip downloads here on the forum in the Scenario Design section. Is there a guide for where to copy to or extract to the assorted files? For example I downloaded one and extracted it but it has at least 6 different files and a folder and no readme explaining where to put the files. I've looked to see if there is a guide on here but may have missed it as not found one...
any help on the ingame / permissions issue also appreciated.

/My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Campaigns and "Extract here"
Multiplayer ones in:
/My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Multiplayer

You have edited the OP to say "SOLVED". What was the solution? - it might help others to know.

Re: 'There was an error unpacking campaign' - SOLVED
Yes I update edited the first post to include the solution.
Basically it was AVG blocking the unpacking and not providing any data or warning it was doing so. The error logs for FoG2 showed it was some kind of write error failure - which led me to think it may be some read only win 7 permissions headache. However the fix was easy - by switching off AVG protection for a short time and then using the in-game community content downloading worked fine.
So if you are getting error messages in the log similar to the ones I posted in the first message of this thread then it is probably AVG or similar anti virus / firewall protection interfering with the unpacking and writing to folders.
cheers
