Flank Marches in Tournament Games

Post by Najanaja »

Can someone explain how this works please.

I'm not against hidden flank marches in tournaments so long as the arrival time is variable and there is a chance that they may not turn up at all.

This is something that the AI randomly sometimes does for side B - which is the AI side in SP games. It isn't extra troops, it is troops taken out of his original OOB.

However, we are probably going to disable it for MP games in a future patch. (Although some people like it).

Yeah, please remove it, I would not be pleased in an MP game to find out that a significant portion of my light or horse troops had been diverted to god knows what/where. From what I've seen, on bigger maps especially these troops are generally wasted because they might not be able to reach the battle before the game has been decided.

Thanks.

Yes, I know how flank marches work in DBM etc.

Personally, I like the idea.

On the contrary I dislike it in tournaments.
At the moment I'm playing without 1/6th of my army, don't know when and where they'll appear on the battlefield and there is the possibility that, if they arrive on the left side I will be never able to use them given the presence of an unfordable river ...

Have you checked the briefing notes in the briefing panel?

If they do arrive on the unfordable river side, please report it as a bug, since that should be taken into account by the code that chooses the side to arrive on.
