Well done, Richard!

Now that I have been able to solve the small fort problem thanks to Pip, RBS, and others, I have been able to seriously play and enjoy the game.

It is even better than Pike and Shot, which was my previous standard for the best in tactical battle games. And a huge improvement over FOG 1, in my opinion.

The different troop types behave and act like the ones described in the histories. It is much easier to see what is actually going on when your are watching the AI turn, and your own. The graphics give a better sense of the whole battlefield. The various display options give you a vast array of information, if you choose to use them. Fighting these battles invokes history, and the maps are very attractive and give a great feel for the terrain.

I just finished a battle where I , as Hannibal, defeated a Roman army in a most challenging and enjoyable battle. I was able to get around the Roman flank while their troops were focused on pushing back my frontal troops, and I was able to use superior cavalry and elephants to do so. But those Romans fought so well, even when attacked from multiple directions, that I suffered heavy losses and the issue was in doubt until their left collapsed in one turn, and I was able to get behind and hammer their center while they cut right through my troops in front of them, just like they did at Cannae. the battle was quite exciting and challenging. Everything that happened on the battle field seemed plausible and made sense. I am enjoying this game immensely.

Thank you, Richard. Well done!
