Deployment glitch?

Deployment glitch?

This may well be down to me doing something wrong, but in my current campaign game I can't find a way to move around four of my light units in the deployment phase of the latest battle. They appear to have been placed outside the deployment area by the autodeploy option, and I don't seem able to click/select them. They're in the forest on the far left of the battlefield - see screenshot. Any ideas?

I guess it is because the autodeploy routine has deployed them in the area "reserved" for the enemy flank marchers. just assume that they have been surprised and that you cannot therefore redeploy them.

Well it is unforeseen, but the result seems reasonable, so yes.

In my most recent game "autodeploy" failed to deploy a light javelin cavalry unit and an archer unit. Why didn't the game deploy them with the other skirmisher units using autodeploy? On game start they appeared on the board edge. Is my chief of staff's attention span another 'feature'? :)

Most likely a mountain was in the way of their normal deployment position. If so the autodeploy tries to deploy them within 2 squares of the originally intended position. If that isn't possible it deploys them at the back.

Alternatively the army was so huge that their normal deployment position would be off map.

Deploying them at the back is the fail-safe position if the AI can't deploy them where they "should" be. (In P&S they just got sent on a flank march).
