Got a strange warning playing a PBEM game -

Post by mordante »

Hi there,

I just got a pop-up during an ongoing PBEM game I was playing that read :

"The scripts or other data being used by your opponent do not match yours. You should contact the other player and ask why their data is different.

It is recommended you abandon the game and report the issue on the forum."

I'm contacted the other player and asked why this might be happening. And here's the forum post. What's likely to be going on?

Cheers.

This is due to a bug. It occurs when the other player has run a user scenario including modded scripts before playing his MP turn. It confuses the checksum that is used to determine whether scripts match when the other player takes his turn.

It is unlikely to affect gameplay. Of course, the normal purpose of the warning is to warn if a player is (deliberately or inadvertently) using modded scripts for MP games, and both players are not using the same mod. Hopefully nobody is likely to do that deliberately, but we will have to take that on faith until the bug is fixed.

It will be corrected in Patch 2.
