New Campaigns?

Post by spedius01 »

Ave,

What follows are a few items to get the old grey matter working.

I think I speak for us all when I say we would like more campaigns.

New campaigns could come in either one of two main forms.

01. A new campaign could be a new beginning with small start-up armies?
02. A new campaign could be a continuation of one of the existing campaigns?

If it's option 01., why would you want to start all over again, unless it was designed for the new, Romano-Celtic armies?

If it's option 02., you would carry into this campaign a fully trained and equiped army with the enemy being equally as strong and becoming progressively stronger to offer any sort of challenge. You would have the opportunity to exercise your right to recruit up to the maximum of 32 squads (even though you can still only field 20 squads in any one battle). You would have to set new levels of experience and maybe even create new skills, equipment and bonuses. It's a massive undertaking. If it's ever going to happen we would need to work together and the "Mod Squad" would need to expand.

Perhaps, in the fullness of time, we may be able to move from Roman to Celtic to our new campaigns, improving our armies as we go.

Vale

Oh, had I the design tools, the things I would do!

Guys, to be fair, Slitherine probably has an economic need to sell us a couple expansions, and further recoup their investment in design and development, before turning the design tools loose for us to design our own.

This makes sense to me, and after all, there's no sense in killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Think how bummed we'd all be if Slitherine went out of business, not to mention all the magnificent games to come that we'd never see if that happened.

Disclaimer - I have no knowledge whatsoever of Slitherine's finances. It is certainly not my intention to suggest that they are in any way suffering any financial difficulties. I was just making a general observation on the financial challenges facing any small, independent game design house.
