Bigger Custom battles

would be good if custom battles were caped at 4000 points, officialy by the devs without modding. any plans regarding that?

I'm pretty sure it is caped at 2000p becasue there is a 64 unit limit per side. At 2000p some armies can get close to that limit.

Why there is a 64 unit limit is another headache though, given the power of modern computers we should be able to work with more units, at least for modding purposes.

I have run battles at 3500 points with no problem, I just have to make sure no army go past that limit.

There isn't a 64 unit cap, but there may possibly be issues with very cheap armies at higher points level.

The issue is not the number of points but the number of units.

All of the selectable units are actually on the map (hidden in the map border) before force selection. So even at 2000 points, a Numidian army (for example) can have 101 units on the map. At 4000 points it could have over 200 and the area allocated for temporary storage of the units prior to force selection may overflow.

Also the deployment routines may not work correctly.

We intend to look at this issue, but if so it will need proper beta testing before it goes live, so don't expect a change to the official points values in the very near future.

In the meantime they can be modded at your own risk.

Ok...

The 'MapGenerate.BSF'' file where I could change the force limit points for battles seemed to indicate a 64 unit limit so I just thought there was one. Any reason this is still in the notes on the those lines from 254-257, or is that referring to something else?

Anyway, great to hear I can play those monster battles if I really like to. ;)

It is probably left over from before the limit was removed.
