Medieval Danish Vs. Medieval German AAR (some pictures)

Post by Dalauppror »

Some nights ago I playd a game of FoG using my Lather Medieval Danisharmy against Steve and his Medieval German army.

I had a real nice plan, but as usual I started to switch the units then I saw my opponents set up...in this case i turned out to be the right decision. I moved my 2 BG of Knights from the center to my right flank.

Blue for the Germans and Red for the Danish.

I puched forward on my right flank and my 2 BG of mounted x-bow chase away the German LH. Then the German knights tryed to charge them but they retreated in to the saftey behind my 2BG of superior Kn.

My 2BG of superior Kn charged the BG with German average Kn, would be a pice of cake...

But the German Kn put up a real fight and managed to wipe out one of my Kn Units before they broke. The danish Knights started to wheel and was planing to attack the German center in the flank.

Meanwhile in the center:

The German center with 2 huge BG of Pikes had advanced and charged the Danish Selected Levy. It was a bitter fight, and the Danish line started to break, a unit of poor General Levy started to run and the Selected Levy had taken a real hard beating.

But then the dusk came and saved the day for the Danish army. The armys could not continue to fight, they gathered their losses and the Commanders had to go to the local pub and discuss their tactics :D

The end positions. Marginal Victory for the Danish army 6-4 :?

Did your Heavy Weapon / CB do any disruptions on the Pike as they came in? How do you feel about these guys?

Thanks !

I realy Like the Mixed Danish Selected Levy (and Swedish Militia) units. I always use them with 8 stands to get some stamina and undrilld to save some points, its anyway 72pts for each unit.

Many of my opponents are afraid of them, they fight hard and they shoot 8) , they dont usualy come in to battle.

In this game they only managed to cause one distruption before the impact, as the Pike units was 12 stands my unit had to cause 3 hits with 3 dice hitting on 5 or 6 to force a cohesion test. But the extra edge then they recive a Impact is very goog :)

Best regards

Was it a choice to not use the classic terrain set-up or is there steppes available in germany or denmark ?

Thanks.

We used the FoG terrain set up, but non of us wanted terrain in the center, almost all terrain ended up on the danish left side which was cut away in my pictures.

Better pictures of my Medieval Danish here.

One of my DBA armys is up for sale at e-bay, IV/58 Medieval Irish :D
