Poor troops in close contact with a general at risk.

Post by nigelemsen »

If you have POOR troops in contact with a general in the combat and declared at risk.

Do you have to re-roll 6's for hit dice?

I assume CMT tests - The unit still has to re-roll a 6 only once. Therefore if you re-roll a 6 from a re-roll that you get to keep it?

If the general is joining the combat--has moved the the front rank--then he upgrades the Poor troops to Average for purposes of the to-hit dice. So they do not have to re-roll sixes for hits.

Poor troops do get to keep sixes that they get on re-rolls (just as superiors have to keep ones that they get on re-rolls).

thanks, Byron and I did play it right... So my "poor" (in all cases) legion did legimately nearly beat his pike phalanx line. (See his game report earlier today). Had all 3x pike blocks on Frag with a unit waiting to charge the flank.. but he was saved by the bell.. ending on 7 to 3 units lost in his favour...

with a TC "at risk"/front rank they are surprising reslient.. in units of 4 elements...
