Question Grand Campaign East/west

Post by Cfant »

Hi!

I will buy the Grand Campaign now, but I'm done with the Eastern Front. Played too many games with this topic :) Can I play Grand Campaign 39/40 and then hop to 42/43 west? Or do I have to play barbarossa? Even more, I find it quite hard to quit 2/3 (I think) of my troops, if changing from east to west after playing GC 41. What's the best way to play the GC avoiding the Soviet War and keeping all my core units? Is there any way?

Thanks and greetings!

You have to fight the soviet until 41. After the German Grand Campaign 41, you can choose to keep playing the eastern front campaign 42, 43, 44 and 45. Or you can choose to play the western front campaign 42/43, 44 and 45, in which you will fight against the allies. You can check the campaign tree in this forum to get a clearer picture.

Good luck on the battlefield :D

You might want to just start with 42/43 West, because you lose almost your entire army that you have been building and prestige, I believe with the first mission in 42/43. I am currently building a massive army that I will be saddened to have to cull when I switch to the West side of the campaign. :(

or you take a look at Operation Sealion

then you can import your Core from GC 40

It is generally better to start from '39 if you intend to take the western branch. Playing to win in the east requires building up a large core early and getting as many units as possible a couple stars of prestige. With the cull that happens before you go west, if you are planning on going that way it makes sense to keep your core small and get as many kills as possible on each unit to maximize the number of heroes you can take.

Thanks a lot, guys! I wanted to avoid the eastern front, but a general has to do, what a general has to do... Thanks for the advice! I'm advancing in poland at the moment, but already had some "what the f..." moments. Great DLC!

Proline's advice is very sound.

And those "what the..." moments are always fun.
The early stages of West is full of them.
