winning a combat

Post by madaxeman »

Why is there no cohesion test modifier for

"the total hits diished out by all of our sides units involved in this big multi-unit combat (combined) were more than those inflicted back on us by all the enemy units they were fighting (combined)" *

??

Surely if the enemy is getting a right caning all across the line, its going to make you and your little bit of the battle line feel a bit more warm and fuzzy - even if you are being somewhat beaten up ?

tim

* Other than "it wont fit on the QR sheet" of course..

Because
1) Troops' awareness is very short range while in a raging melee.
2) The effect of winning/losing is adequately covered by the existing tests/modifiers.
3) We want to keep the modifier tables as brief as possible by avoiding the inclusion of non-essential items. (There are lots and lots of additional modifiers for which a case could be made - we have tried to pare it back to the essentials).
* Other than "it wont fit on the QR sheet" of course..
The soundest reason of all.

all valid arguments....

...but it does also mean that if one of yoru own sides units is in combat, it is probably more helpful to them - and more sensible (in the game) - to go and stand at least 3 inches behind them instead moving up to join them as an overlap and help them fight their opponents

If you only consider the chances of your other BG winning the first round of melee. However, its chances of winning overall are significantly affected by drops in the enemy BG's cohesion, which are much more likely if you have the overlap.

Or you could manoeuvre your spare BG to hit the enemy in the flank.

Choices, choices....
