Oxford 25mm Results

Post by davidandlynda »

Results as follows ,I'll send the fuller ones to Hammy shortly
We ended up with 14 players, thanks to Wayne and team of Veteren minis for providing some prizes
1st Richard Collins 87pts Late Republican Romans
2nd David Fairhurst 71 pts Bosporan
3rd Dave Allen 69pts Late Medieval German
4th Alasdair Harley 64pts Komnenan Byzantine
5th Lynda Fairhurst 49pts Palmyran
6th Paddy Bray 44pts Classical Indian
7th Nigel Emsen 42pts Late Republican Roman
8th Simon Green 40pts Late Carthaginian
9th Lynette Maxim 39 pts Early Crusader
10th Robert Medcraft 38pts Late Seleucid
11th Dene Green 37pts Wars of the Roses Yorkist
12th Wayne Charlton 36pts Dominate Romans
13th Tom Elsworth 35 pts Free Company
14th Byron Emsen(jr) 14pts Alex Macedonian ,for a while he was ahead of dad.

As to how things played,There is no way I would have been able to play the Bosporans on a 6x4,the wider table enabled me to maouveur and skirmish far better,I even managed to break the Indians albeit I was 1 point short of breaking.40mm MU's feel and look so much better than 1 inch in 25mm.
Robert has taken some pictures so hopefully will post them shortly ,the extra space didn't leave the armies looking lonely in the middle of nowhere,we were using 700pts so fairly large armies ,I had 12 BG's

I don't suppose any of the players from this list not attending Britcon could be persuaded to come to Manchester and even up the 25mm numbers?

Some of the photos from the Oxford 25 mm Competition. Unfortunately by focusing was out on some of the photos.

As I mentioned in my earlier post my focusing was out on a number of the photos. However as a number of the figures were mine I have taken some additional photos.

40mm per MU was a bit of a shock for me (Late Republican Roman).. LH came over my side of the board scary quickly. Yes my son (Byron, 13 in Sept) was in danger of embarassing me :(. I understand he played a good solid game given his experiance of FOG being ~5 practice games before the weekend.. mmmm... The larger board still allowed foot heavy romans (punn not indented), to still not feel isolated and restricted hiding in a square on my long edge.

I even got to take Toms baggage with a unit of HF :) and got very close to another baggage :) Must have had a virtual road on the board.
