Update 2.9.8 Single Player Not Working

Just updated to 2.9.8 (site version not Steam). The single player option on the main screen no longer functions!

I can start a multiplayer game, change options and load the editor as well as exit. When I attempt to click on the single player option nothing happens.

Prior to this update I had no problems with starting a game.

I got the single player link to work by removing the Battle of Britain campaign from the Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Campaigns folder. Not really sure what that's all about.

However, I only have 1 of 2 add ons now showing. I have purchased both US Pacific and US Marine add ons. Only the US Marine addon is showing. US Pacific shows I need to purchase?

I was halfway through the campaign. Is that all lost now?

There is a problem with planes and carriers now. If I buy a new airplane during a mission and put it on my carrier, then it no longer can take off since the new update 2.9.8

First of all, thanks for taking the time to report these.

Could you please find the output_log.txt file in your Order of Battle - WWII\Order of Battle - WW2_Data folder and put it in a zip file with any relevant save games and upload it to here? That'll help us greatly in finding the issue and fixing it.

@LadyLex, for your US Pacific campaign, are you using the Slitherine installer version or Steam? We've had issues recently where Steam hasn't been reporting ownership properly but it might be fixed if you restart Steam.

I'm using the Slitherine installer. I don't have the game linked to Steam at all.

Did you own Order of Battle - Pacific initially, or did you buy US Pacific/Rising Sun after the switch to OoB - WWII ?

edit: Never mind, you explain that you've purchased Pacific and Marines as seperate DLC's. FWIW, your save should be fine, it'll be in Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\SaveGames

Now we just need to work out why US Pacific isn't initialising. Can you please send us the output_log.txt file?

I have pacificus.txt in the game root folder. I does contain my serial key.

It was a custom campaign. There was another for the Philippines which I hadn't installed yet, but I did try that last night. It also causes the single player button to not work.

Can you delete serials.dat from Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Settings and see if that makes a difference?

It does not make a difference.

Do you still have the purchase email and/or the installer for US Pacific? Would you be able to try reinstalling that expansion using your US Pacific serial number?

Found the file (link to download in the mail didn't work. It's been too long.) and reinstalled. Everything appears to be OK with the campaign. As others have posted before this shouldn't really be necessary.

Normally it isn't necessary. We don't know what it went wrong in your case.

I had this same problem just now - Single Player not working (2.9.9) - and I searched and found this thread. Then I read this post and thought to look into the output_log.txt file. Sure enough, at the end of the report, there was this error message:

What I had done, after experimenting for a while playing both sides in a couple of built-in multi-player scenarios, was to inadvertently load a custom multi-player scenario in my Campaigns folder. Apparently this was a very bad thing to do. When I removed the campaign, Single Player became available again upon game restart. Live and learn. Thank goodness for this forum.
